How do I qualify to be a CSCA Athlete?

Eligibility

In order for an athlete to become eligible to receive CSCA services an athlete must be identified as a national team member of a major games sport (Olympics, Paralympics, PanAm Games and Commonwealth Games) or a National Team Prospect of a major games sport.  Athletes would qualify under one of four headings;

Podium: Podium Canada targeted athletes

Canadian Elite: National team and national development team carded athletes

Canadian Development: Non-carded national team members

Prospects: Athletes identifies by the National Sport Organization and the Provincial Sport Organization as having the potential to become a national team member.

Once an athlete is identified, they must complete the intake process with the Athlete Services Manager.  This process includes the CSCA orientation, information gathering and overview of training and competitive program.  To ensure that information is understood by all stakeholders surrounding the athlete, the orientation ideally includes  the coach, athlete and parent/guardian (if athlete is under 18), as well as a provincial sport organization representative when possible.   The forms for the athlete intake can be found on our website (www.cscatlantic.ca)  and should be completed in advance of the meeting.
